Succeeding in the Digital World:  The 5s of Success (and one requirement to be met)

The digital supply chain is upon us.  Whether it is called Industry 4.0, the cyber world or whatever, we are now in a world characterized by an emphasis on innovative, responsiveness, and customization.  Yet, for many, the digital supply chain is very much a mystery. While it promises great things, the digital supply chain does not operate in a vacuum.  This presentation identifies the elements that contribute to helping firms best take advantage of the opportunities offered by the digital supply chain.

First, there is a key requirement that every firm must first ensure that it meets -this is that of operational excellence. As the presentation will show, operation excellence is more than on-time deliveries, it involves issues such as robustness and resilience.

Next, there are the 5s on which the digital supply chain is built. These include:

  • Sensing
  • Scaling
  • Security
  • Social (i.e., people matter)
  • Strategy.

This presentation will discuss these issues, illustrating them with examples taken from industry.
